The goal of caregiving is to help someone maintain an independent lifestyle as long as possible. Being a successful caregiver means finding a balance between providing care and helping the care receiver to be as independent as possible.

Unfortunately, abuse by caregivers is not uncommon, especially among individuals with developmental disabilities. These Power & Control and Equality with Interdependence Wheels were created by Wisconsin Coalition Against Domestic Violence to bring awareness to the large variety of abuse that exists.
