Nancy Smith, Director of the State Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR) stopped by The Independence Center (The IC) to meet with Patricia Yeager and the Independent Living (IL) staff.
She came to hear more about The IC, our programs, staff, and to answer questions that will further communication and cooperation between the two agencies. DVR primarily helps prepare individuals with disabilities for finding and keeping employment. The IC can also bring other components such as budgeting, housing assistance, benefit navigation, and classroom opportunities to consumers who seek them.
DVR and the IC work closely with the older individuals with blindness (OIB) program, which DVR helps fund here at The IC. The meeting was a great opportunity for IL staff to ask questions about DVR’s service process and figure out how they can further and better collaborate with DVR and their staff.
DVR recently opened offices at 1365 Garden of the Gods Road, Suite 250.
