A federally subsidized program for low-income households. You may elect to obtain a Section 8 certificate or housing voucher for rent payment in the private market.  Disabled individuals should also apply for Public and Senior housing, Section 8 certificate and accessible housing if needed.  There is no preference for housing.  Applicants are put on a waiting list by day and time of application for all programs.  You must meet low-income guidelines.  Apply, in person, Monday through Friday, 7:30am to 3:30pm. (waiting list for section 8, closed at this time)

Provides modifications to dwelling units for low-income households within the city limits to reduce architectural barriers.  Modifications can include ramps, widening doorways, bathroom grab bars, and signalers for the deaf.  There is no charge to qualified applicants.  Assists low-income homeowners with emergency housing repairs that are hazardous to health and safety, and also provides affordable loans for housing rehabilitation.  Call for application.

Provides quality housing at affordable rents.  Applications are taken Monday through Thursday, 8:30 am to 4:30pm and Friday from 8:30 am to 6 PM; closed on Saturday and Sunday.  They also handle Plaza on the Platte. The Independence Center provides referrals.

A state rebate program for residences of Colorado who are disabled or over 65 years of age. You must be a resident for at least one year. To qualify, your income must be less than $12,313 per year, for single individuals, or $16,205 per couple. Applications are available at the public libraries, Department of Revenue and Independence Center.

Housing First places chronically homeless individuals with mental illness and substance abuse problems in HUD subsidized housing, and provide intensive case management. Clients are placed in apartments accepting Shelter Plus and sign a one year lease with private landlord while working on their mental health issues and recovery.
